Leeds-based art-rockers Mush have dropped an endearing new track that takes subtle aim at the upcoming World Cup. ‘Group Of Death’, musically, is filled with gritty, twangy guitar work and floaty vocal lines that make bold jumps above twisting harmony, while sounding perfectly natural against complex rhythmic choices. Similarities to the likes of Parquet Courts and Pavement can be found in much of their music. “In my warped imagination it just sounds like a Paul McCartney song but it won’t to others,” the band explain. “I initially had the idea of doing a World Cup song called Group of Death, but by the time it was written nothing beyond the title had any relevance to football..."
